Multiple EPJ runners medal

On Tuesday, Sept. 6, the Elk Point-Jefferson (EPJ) Huskies’ Cross Country team travelled to Canton for the Canton Cross Country Invite. On their calendar every year, this meet is an opportunity to run a tough, hilly course. Teams include West Central, Vermillion, EPJ, Canton, Dakota Valley, Parker and Tea Area. The temperature was blistering hot, adding to the difficulty.
Cross participates in Heartland Preview

For the f irst time, the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies sent a runner to the Heartland Preview Saturday, Sept. 10 at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls. This elite meet includes top runners throughout the region, with Junior High, Junior Varsity and Varsity races for boys and girls.
Harriers battle the heat

It was a sweltering hot day for the Canton Invite on Sept. 6, but the Dakota Valley Panthers showed up ready to beat the heat and run.
Boys gain experience

The boys soccer team for Dakota Valley travelled to Hartford, SD on Sept. 8 to go up against the West Central Trojans on Anderson Field. The Panthers entered the game with high hopes and played well, but unfortunately were not able to come out of the match with a win. Dakota Valley fell to the Trojans 0-4 at the end of regulation.
Panther volleyball has a busy week

The first full week of September brought the Panther volleyball squad an away match in Beresford and a busy Saturday of tournament games. All volleyball squads from Dakota Valley travelled to Beresford Sept.

Buzzer beater leads Huskies to 4th place finish March 16, 2023 will be a night to remember for Devon Schmitz. Not only because it was his birthday, but his last second 3-point shot sent the Huskies into the winning side of the Class A State Boys Basketball tournament brackets.

Election integrity bill passes

An election integrity bill, supported by South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley, passed another legislative hurdle Wednesday, March 1. Senate Bill 207 would strengthen the ban on the inappropriate use of taxpayer dollars to influence the outcome of an election.

EPA releases 2021 Toxic Release Inventory data for Region 8 states

EPJ approves contracts

Multiple teacher and coaching contracts were approved at the Elk Point-Jefferson School Board meeting March 13. Non-certified personnel salary agreements were approved for Melissa Curry adding Middle School/High School Principal’s Secretary for 2022-23 school year and Jake Terry as 7th Period – sixth grade computer class for 2022-23 school year.

Prairie Estates deemed negligent

The family of Eldon Barnes filed a lawsuit against Prairie Estates and Thomas Olson, a medical director, after the death of Barnes. Barnes was admitted into Prairies Estates Healthcare Community in March 2015.
