Farmer’s Open a success

In last week’s issue, it was stated that Southeast Farmers Cooperative sponsors the annual Farmer’s Open. This was incorrect and we regret the error. The annual event is put on by local volunteers and various sponsors. Council hears about Sioux Point Road closure

RP Constructors' schedule shows Sioux Point Road will be closing on March 6. Signs were to be placed Feb. 27 to notify travellers of the upcoming detour and road closure. The closure needed in order to install utilities while the ground water level is low.

Eight grapplers qualify for state

The Huskies had a great showing at the South Dakota High School Activities Association Region 2B Wrestling Tournament, Feb. 18 at Salem. Eight Elk Point-Jefferson wrestlers garnered a first-fourth place finish in their brackets in order to qualify for the state tournament.

Lemrick selected for National Supercross event

A local second grade student will have the experience of a lifetime come March 11. Kyler Lemrick, a student at Elk Point-Jefferson Elementary School, was selected to participate in the 2023 KTM JUNIOR SUPERCROSS Racing Program, held in Indianapolis, IN, at the Lucas Oil Stadium.

EPJ holds lengthy meeting

The Elk Point-Jefferson School Board had just shy of a five hour meeting Feb. 15. A majority of the time was spent in executive session – 7:35 to 10:15 p.m. There were three separate executive sessions for Personnel, Negotiations and Marketing/ Pricing.

State Wrestling Preview

The Panther wrestling squad will be sending four varsity wrestlers to state competition in Rapid City this year. Jackson Boonstra and Cameron Curry placed high enough at the region meet on Feb. 17 in Brandon Valley to become individual boy state quali_ers. Panthers send 2 to state after Region Tournament

The South Dakota High School Region 2A boys wrestling meet was held at Brandon Valley on Friday, Feb. 17. With a chance to go to state on the line, sophomore Jackson Boonstra, who has been solid all season, would punch his ticket as would 7th grader Cameron Curry.
